How to wear: Nude Pumps

Nude Pumps by Discotoes (of course!!)
I LOVE my nude pumps.  Not because they are beautiful and sparkly and not because I feel like a celebrity when people stop me on the street to ask about them.  I love them because they go with almost EVERYTHING in my closet.  I recently made a pair of sparkly nude pumps for Sara from a pair of Nude Patent Leather pointed toe pumps that she had purchased to wear with a black lace dress.  She mentioned that she does not wear them often because she's not sure what to wear them with.
To help Sara and anyone else who has not yet mastered the nude pump, below are a few ideas to get you started!
From Anthropologie
I actually borrowed this dress from a friend for an event that required a business casual outfit (or as business casual as Theater folk get) and wore simple nude pumps with it.  The pumps blend in with your leg, elongating them and making you feel like a supermodel!
From JCrew
Nude pumps with this pop of color in the jacket would offer an understated option as opposed to a dark brown or black!

From Banana Republic

From Colette Dinnigan
Most people would use a black shoe as their 'go to' for this dress but in some cases that might be too dramatic.  Nude shoes will allow the dress to be the statement and not the shoe.
From JCrew
With a bold pattern and color, keep things simple with neutral footwear.

From Banana Republic
One of my favorite outfits is black cigarette trousers with a mint green cardigan and my sparkly nude pumps, similar to the outfit above.  The nude shoes offer a lighter, more casual look than black shoes would.

Just for fun, here are three lovely celebrities sporting the nude pump!  I love how they each have a bright, bold dress and understated shoe.

What do we need to take away from this?
Nude really is the new Black!!

I know, I know...you're busy, traffic is bad, you just want to go home and not brave the shoe store.  I get it!  Instead of digging through the racks of shoes, I've done it for you.

So, no more excuses!!  I've been searching high and low to find some really great options for creating custom Discotoes for you!  You can still provide your own shoes, but now, I'm also offering these options for you.

If you have any questions about how they fit, what we can do to them, etc, please let me know!!

Price for Glitter designs INCLUDING shoes is $100 flat.

Photo update!

A little iPhone photo dump of the last week's going-ons!

Sweet nude pointed toe pumps for Sara
The house I live in used to be an Art Gallery and this sign in the background is a remnant of that...
This is a detail of a cute bridesmaids shoe re-do I recently completed.  Valerie hasn't gotten them yet so I don't want to spoil the surprise of the rest of the shoe yet.
Its snowing, and clearly, i'm excited about it.

Three pairs of shoes ready to be shipped!!

These sassy black shoes are headed to my wonderful Mom!!  She's going to look fabulous!

There are always cute new stores opening in my neighborhood and on Saturday, my roommates and I visited Market Side Mercantile.  It opened just a week ago in Northside.  They have a fun collection of refinished antique/vintage furniture as well as some yet-to-be-finished things.  I spotted this FUN headboard and HAD TO HAVE IT.  Little did I know that my housemate was going to buy it for me as a belated Birthday gift.  I'm in LOVE.

I experiences my first icy weather since moving to Ohio.  It was not an issue, really, but it was fun/scary to slip down the sidewalk.

Life is not about shoes

Sometimes, life is not about shoes.

Most of the time, actually.  And I'm ok with that to tell you the truth.

This weekend, life was about friends, mostly new, but with a few old as well.  This weekend has been overflowing with friendship, laughs, lovely conversation, and a bright future for my time in this new city. The feelings of new friendships, the kind of friendship that is simple and that comes naturally, is incomparable.

I'm feeling blessed beyond measure at this place in my life and I'm quite content with my life being only a little bit about shoes.

Inspired By: A Beautiful Mess

The new year always brings about reflection in my life.  I've never been one for making resolutions, probably because I know myself well enough that I won't try too hard to stick to them.  One thing I have been thinking about a lot lately is where I want to take Discotoes.  The whole idea stared as a whim and here I am, nearing a year after the first lighting bolt idea.  I don't fancy myself a business woman, rather more of a scatterbrained creative type (I don think anyone will argue with that idea!)  What, then, does a scatterbrained creative type do to understand the big bad world of running a small business?  Well, ask for help, of course!!

There are many organizations out there offering to give you small business advice, but often times it comes with a big business price tag.  I'm sure these advice givers are very helpful and worth their cost, but their services were not something I was interested.  Enter Elsie and Emma, the adorable, talented, creative, -did I say adorable- sisters behind A Beautiful Mess blog.  Besides being fabulous designers, the duo also runs a boutique in Springfield, Missouri called Red Velvet that they built from the ground up.  I am inspired and excited by their blog and store daily and was thrilled to see that they offer an E-Course in being as awesome as they are (aka running a small business).  There are 22 lessons filled with personal stories, experiences, and suggestions for starting and running a small business.  As soon as I read the first few lines of the description, I knew this was the help I was looking for!!

I've gotten through lesson 5 and so far, I'm SO happy I stumbled upon this gem.  I want to be a smart business owner AND a great designer and I feel like Elsie and Emma are the perfect ladies to help me do that!

Looking forward to a NEW YEAR

Happy New Year to my faithful followers!

After taking some time to enjoy my family and friends in Texas, I'm back in Cincy and very excited to see what 2012 holds for me and Discotoes!!

I've got some new ideas to roll out in 2012 and I'll be sharing them here very very soon.

My mom gives my brothers and I a new ornament each year, the fabulous heels being this year's newest!  When if found the rainbow disco ball, they simply HAD to hang out next to each other!!
